Full Definition

وَبَصَI , Present.T يَبِصُ, Verbal.Noun وَبِيصٌ and وَبْصٌ and بِصَةٌ, said of lightning, and of other things, It shone, gleamed, or glistened. You say, [also,] وَبَصَتِ النَّارُ, Verbal.Noun وَبِيصٌ, The light shone, or shone brightly; accord. to AHn; and نَارِى, signifies my light shone, or shone brightly: or the latter signifies my light showed its flame: or my light began to show its flame: or النَّارُ signifies the fire appeared on being struck. And وَبِيصُ الطِّيبِ signifies The shining of perfume.
