Full Definition

وَدُعَI , Verbal.Noun وَدْعٌ and دَعَةٌ, He or it, became still, quiet, or at rest; as also اِتَّدَعَ , [quasi-] Verbal.Noun تُدْعَةٌ and تُدَعَةٌ. You say to a man, and meaning Be thou grave, staid, steady, sedate, or calm. See also 1; and art. وذر.
2 وَدُعَ and وَدَعَ, Verbal.Noun وَدَاعَةٌ, He was, or became, in a state of ease, and ampleness of the means or circumstances of life.
3 دَعْ: see an ex. voce آذَى: it may be rendered, in different cases, Leave thou, or let alone, or say nothing of: see بَلْهَ.
4 دَعْنِى مِنْ كَذَا Let me alone and cease from such a thing: and exempt thou me, or excuse me, from such a thing.
5 دَعْ عَنْكَ كَذَا Dismiss thou from thee such a thing. See خُذْ عَنْكَ.
6 دَعْ مَا يَرِيبُكَ إِلَى لَا يَرِيبُكَ: see art. ريب.
7 دَعْ مَا زَيْدٌ: see سِىٌّ in art. سوى.
8 وَدَعَ used as a pret.: see an ex. voce زَائِلَةٌ, in art. زول.
