Full Definition

وَقَذَهُI , Present.T يَقِذُ, Verbal.Noun وَقْذٌ, He beat him, or struck him, violently: he beat him until he became relaxed, or languid, and at the point of death: or he beat him so that he became at the point of death: he broke his skull, wounding the brain: he beat or struck, him upon the small protuberance above the back of the neck, so that the sound of the blow or blows reached the brain, and deprived him of reason: he beat him until he died.
2 وَقَذَهُ بِالضَّرْبِ [He killed him with beating].
3 وَقَذَ الشَّاةَ He beat the ewe, or she-goat, to death with pieces of wood [&c.: see وَقِيذٌ].
4 وَقَذَهُ He prostrated him.
5 ضَرَبْتُ الحَيَّةَ حَتَّى وَقَذْتُهَا I beat the serpent until I killed it.
6 وَقَذَهُ It rendered him still, quiet, or tranquil: it rendered him still, quiet, or tranquil, and had such an effect upon him as to prevent his committing an unlawful action.
7 وَقَذَهُ It overcame him: or made him to fall down.
8 وَقَذَهُ He, or it, left him ill, or sick; as also .
9 وَقَذَهُ المَرَضُ, and الغَمُّ, [Disease, and grief, overcame him, or rendered him infirm, or caused him to be at the point of death].
10 وَقَذَتْهُ العِبَادَةُ [Religious service rendered him infirm, or caused him to be at the point of death].
11 وَقَذَتْنِى كَلِمَةٌ سَمِعْتُهَا [A word, or sentence, that I heard, distressed me.]
12 وُقِذَتْ She was milked against her wish, so that her milk became little.
13 فِى قَِلْبِى وَقْذَهٌ مِنْ ذٰلِكَ In my heart is some distress remaining in consequence of that.
