أَعْسَرُ

Full Definition

أَعْسَرُ [More, and most, difficult, hard, strait, or intricate; contr. of أَيْسَرُ;] applied to a thing, or an affair, or a circumstance: fem. عُسْرَى .
2 Applied to a day, i. q. عَسِرٌ, q. v.; unfortunate, or unlucky,

def.2 A left-handed man; one who works with his left hand; one whose strength is in his left hand or arm, and who does with that what others do with the right: fem. عَسْرَآءُ: and pl. عُسْرَانٌ, like as سُودَانٌ is a pl. of أَسْوَدُ, and عُسْرٌ. None is stronger in casting or shooting than the أَعْسَر.
2 أَعْسَرُ يَسَرٌ A man who uses both his hands [alike]; ambidextrous; an ambidexter: fem. عَسْرَآءُ يَسَرَةٌ: you should not say [of a man that he is] أَعْسَرُ أَيْسَرُ; nor of a woman that she is عَسْرَآءُ يَسْرَآءُ.
3 العَسْرَآءُ, fem. of الأَعْسَرُ, The left hand or arm.
4 حَمَامٌ أَعْسَرُ A pigeon, or pigeons, having a whiteness in the left wing. And عُقَابٌ عَسْرَآءُ An eagle whose feathers on the left side are more numerous than those on the right: and some say having, in its wing, white primary feathers. And عَسْرَآءُ A white primary feather; and so . (S, O, K; in one of my copies of the S written عِسْرَة.)
