اراحIV
He breathed: said of a man, and of a horse.
2 [It emitted an odour:] it stank; as also أَرْوَحَ: the former said of flesh-meat, and of water; and so the latter: or the latter, it became altered [for the worse] in odour; said of flesh-meat, and of water, &c.; and so the former, said of water: ISd makes a distinction between اروح and تروّح [q. v., as does also J,] said of water.
3 Also, (Verbal.Noun إِرَاحَةٌ, L,) He revived, or his spirit returned to him, after fatigue; like , q. v.: and he had rest.
4 And [hence], Verbal.Noun إِرَاحَةٌ, or إِرْوَاحٌ, He died; as though he found rest: and he died, or perished. You say, أَرَاحَ فَأَرَاحَ [He rested, i. e. had rest, and so rested others], meaning he died, and so people became at rest from him.
5 [Hence also,] أَرَحْنَا بِالصَّلَاةِ We performed the act of prayer: because its performance is [a cause of] rest to the soul; the waiting for the time thereof being troublesome.
6 أَرَاحَتْ said of camels &c. [as though meaning They returned in the evening, or afternoon, to rest]: see 1, in the latter half of the paragraph.
7 اراح, Verbal.Noun إِرَاحَةٌ and إِرَاحٌ, said of a man, His camels, and sheep or goats, and cattle, returned to him in the evening, or afternoon, from pasture.
8 And اراح, [app. for اراح بَعِيرَهُ,] like wise said of a man, He alighted from his camel to rest him and to alleviate him.

2 اراحهُ, Verbal.Noun إِرَاحَةٌ, and رَاحَةٌ is a subst. used as an Verbal.Noun, [i. e. a quasi-Verbal.Noun,] like طَاعَةٌ and عَارَةٌ used as inf. ns. of أَطَاعَهُ and أَعَارَهُ, said of God, or of a man, He rested him, made him to be at rest or at ease, or gave him rest; namely, a hired man, or any man; as also روّح عَنْهُ: and the former, He caused him to enter into a state of rest, or of mercy. And بِنَا (K in art. لث) Give ye us rest. And اراح بَعِيرَهُ He revived, or recovered, his camel.
3 [Hence,] اراح النَّاسَ بِالصَّلَاةِ He chanted the call to prayer, and so made the people to ease their hearts by performing the act of prayer.
4 And اراح, Verbal.Noun إِرَاحَةٌ; accord. to one dial., هَرَاحَ, Present.T يُهَرِيحُ; and روّح , Verbal.Noun تَرْوِيحٌ; He drove back, or brought back, camels, and sheep or goats, and cows or bulls, in the evening, or afternoon, after the declining of the sun from the meridian, [from their place of pasture,] to their nightly resting-place, or إِلَى أَهْلِهَا [and عَلَى أَهْلِهَا (for you say رَاحَتْ عَلَى أَهْلِهَا) i. e. to their owners].
5 [Hence,] اراح عَلَيْهِ حَقَّهُ He restored to him his right, or due; as also أَرْوَحَ. And the saying, in a trad., of Umm-Zara, اراح
عَلَىَّ نَعَمًا ثَرِيًّا He gave me much cattle: because she was [as though she were] a مُرَاح for his bounty.
