Full Definition

اربضIV He made a sheep, or goat, [&c., ] to lie down upon his breast; as also ربّض , Verbal.Noun تَرْبِيضٌ.
2 أَرْبَضَهُمْ It satisfied their thirst so that they became heavy, and slept, stretched upon the ground: it satiated them.
3 اربضت الشَّمْسُ The sun became vehemently hot, so as to make the gazelle and the sheep or goat, or the wild animals, to lie down upon their breasts: or became still, like a beast lying upon its breast, having attained its utmost height and not begun to descend.
4 اربض أَهْلَهُ, and أَصْحَابَهُ, He undertook, or managed, the expenses of his family, and of his companions; syn. قَامَ بنَفَقَتِهِمْ: so says Ibn- 'Abbád.
