Full Definition

تحوّلV : see 1, first sentence, in three places. [Hence,] تحوّل مُبْتَدِعًا [He turned innovator]. (O and K in art. بدع.)
2 It shifted, or removed, or went, or became shifted or transferred, from one place to another, or from its place; as also حوّل [and حال and استحال, as shown above: see 1, near the beginning.] You say, تحوّل مِنْ مَكَانِهِ It shifted, &c., from its place. And تحوّل عَنْهُ It shifted from it to another. And تحوّل إِلَى مَكَانٍ آخَرَ i. q. حَالَ, q. v. And المَجَرَّةُ The Milky Way became in the midst of the sky; which it does in the summer, when the season of heat comes on.

def.2 Also, or تحوّل حَالًا, He carried a bundle upon his back. And تحوّل الكِسَآءِ He put a thing in the [garment called] كساء, and then carried it on his back.
