Full Definition

جَمِيعٌ In a state of collection, congregation, or union; being together; met together; [as also مُجْتَمِعٌ ;] contr. of مُتَفَرِّقٌ. You say قَوْمٌ جَمِيعٌ A people, or number of men, in a state of collection, &c.; being together; met together; syn. : and in like manner, إِبِلٌ Camels in a state of collection; &c.
2 [All, or the whole, of any things or thing.] See أَجْمَعُ, last sentence.
3 [As an epithet in which the quality of a subst. is predominant,] A tribe [or any number of men] in a state of collection, congregation, or union; being together; met together; syn. حَىٌّ مُجْتَمِعٌ . See also جَمْعٌ, in four places.
4 A man compact, or compressed, or contracted, in make, or frame: ( الخَلْقِ;) strong; who has not become decrepit nor infirm.
5 رَجُلٌ جَمِيعٌ اللَّأْمَةِ A man having his arms, or weapons, collected together.
6 رَجُلٌ جَمِيعُ الرَّأْىِ, and , A man of right, not disordered or unsettled, opinion, or judgment, or counsel.
7 جَعَلَ الأَمْرَ جَمِيعًا بَعْدَ تَفَرُّقِهِ He determined, resolved, or decided, upon the affair, so as to make it firmly settled, [after it had been unsettled in his mind, or] after considering what might be its issues, or results, and saying at one time, I will do thus, and at another time, I will do thus.
