حُقٌّ

Full Definition

حُقٌّ : see حُقَّةٌ.
2 Also The breast, or mamma, of an old woman.
3 A tuber of a truffle.
4 The small hollow upon the head of the shoulder-blade: or, as some say, the حُقّ of the shoulder-blade is the head of the upper arm, in which is the وَابِلَة: or this latter is another signification of حُقّ.
5 The head, or lower part of the head, of the hip, in which is the thigh-bone; the socket, or turning-place, of the hip.
6 The socket, or turning-place, of the foot of a door. You say, لَقِيتُهُ عِنْدَ حُقِّ بَابِ المَسْجِدِ, meaning I met him, or found him, near to the mosque: and لَقِيتُهُ مِنْ المَسْجِدِ [app. means the same].
