ـَ; Verbal.Noun حَمَاقَةٌ, or this is a simple subst., and حُمْقٌ and حُمُقٌ; He was, or became, foolish, or stupid; i. e., unsound in intellect or understanding; and stagnant, or dull, therein; or deficient, or defective, therein; or he had little, or no, intellect or understanding; as also
انحمق and
استحمق and
تحمّق . [See حُمْقٌ, below.] One says to a man, تِيسِى, and اِحْمَقِى, [as though he were a she-hyena, or a woman,] when he speaks foolishly, or stupidly, or says what is not like anything. (AZ, TA voce تَاسَ.)
