Full Definition

خُرْقٌ a subst. from خَرِقَ, [or perhaps Verbal.Noun of خَرُقَ as syn. with خَرِقَ, ] and خُرُقٌ , Roughness, ungentleness, clumsiness, or awkwardness; contr. of رِفْقٌ; in doing, or making, a thing: unskilfulness in work, and in the management of affairs: foolishness; stupidity; or unsoundness, or deficiency, in intellect or understanding; as also خُرْقَةٌ : and ignorance. [Hence,] نَوْمَةُ الخُرْقِ The sleep of [the time of morning called] the ضُحَى. (Har p. 223. [See also حُمْقٌ and خُلُقٌ.])
