ذَرَتْهُI , Present.T تَذْرُوهُ, Verbal.Noun ذَرْوٌ; and Present.T تَذْرِيهِ, Verbal.Noun ذَرْىٌ; and ; and ; the last on the authority of IAar, but said in the T to be disallowed in this sense by AHeyth; The wind raised it, or made it to fly, and carried it away; and dispersed it; namely, a thing, or the dust, &c. And accord. to IAar, one says, ذَرَتِ الرِّيحُ, and , [elliptically,] meaning ذَرَتِ التُّرَابَ [i. e. The wind raised the dust, or made it to fly, &c.].
2 [Hence,] ذَرَا الرِّوَايَةَ ذَرْوَ الرِّيحِ الهَشِيمَ He carried on the relation uninterruptedly and rapidly [like as the wind carries away the dry herbage that is broken in pieces.]
3 Hence also, ذَرَا النَّاسُ الحِنْطَةَ [The people winnowed the wheat]. You say, ذَرَوْتُ الحِنْطَةَ, Present.T أَذْرُوهَا, Verbal.Noun ذَرْوٌ; and ; I winnowed the wheat: or الطَّعَامَ, Verbal.Noun تَذْرِيَةٌ; and ذَرَيْتُهُ and ذَرَوْتُهُ; I cleared the wheat from its straw. And ذَرَوْتُهُ, and ذَرَيْتُهُ, but the former is more approved; and ; I made it to fly, and go away; namely, a thing, or grain, and the like. الأَكْدَاسِ is well known [as meaning The winnowing of the heaps of grain]. And hence, ذَرَّيْتُ تُرَابَ المَعْدِنِ I sought the gold of the dust of the mine [by sifting it or winnowing it]: and signifies the same. (T and S in art. درى. 4 ذَرَيْتُ الشَّىْءَ, or , accord. to AHeyth, I threw the thing [or scattered it] like as one throws grain for sowing. And ذَرَا الأَرْضَ He sowed the land, scattering the seed; as also ذَرَأَ الارض; but the former is said to be the more chaste. (MF and TA in art. ذرأ.)
5 And ذَرَاهُمْ, Verbal.Noun ذَرْوٌ, is a dial. var. of ذَرَأَهُمْ, meaning He [God] created them.
6 ذَرَا الشَّىْءَ He broke the thing without separating. And ذَرَوْتُ نَابَهُ I broke his canine tooth.
7 ذَرَاهُ بِالرُّمْحِ He displaced, or uprooted, him, or it, with the spear.

def.2 ذَرَا, intrans., It flew up, and went away, or became carried away [by the wind].
2 He hastened in his running. You say, مَرَّ يَذْرُو, Verbal.Noun ذَرْوٌ, He passed, or went, along quickly: accord. to some, said particularly of a gazelle. And ذَرَا إِلَى فُلَانٍ He rose and betook himself to such a one.
3 It fell.
4 ذَرَا نَابَهُ, Verbal.Noun ذَرْوٌ, His canine tooth broke: or, as some say, fell out. And ذَرَافُوهُ, Verbal.Noun ذَرْوٌ, His teeth fell out from his mouth; as also ذَرَى, and ذَرَأَ; but the last is said to be of weak authority, or a mispronunciation. (MF and TA in art. ذرأ.)
