عَاضَّتِIII , Verbal.Noun عِضَاضٌ and مُعَاضَّةٌ, The beasts bit one another. And in like manner you say, هُمَا They two bite each other.
2 [Hence the saying,] عَاضَّ القَوْمُ العَيْشَ مُنْذُ العَامِ فَٱشْتَدَّ عِضَاضُهُمْ i. e. عَيْشُهُمْ [app. meaning The people, or company of men, have grappled with life during this year, and their life has been strait, or difficult, or hard]. [See عِضَاضُ عَيْشٍ.]
