Full Definition
غَمْرٌ
Much, abundant, copious, [or deep,] water; as also
غَمِيرٌ : or much, abundant, copious, [or deep,] water, that drowns, or submerges: or that covers over him who enters into it: [also used as an epithet in which the quality of a subst. predominates, meaning much, abundant, copious, or deep, water;] and
غَمْرَةٌ signifies the same as غَمْرٌ [when thus used; or a submerging deep, a deep place, or an abyss, of water]: pl. غِمَارٌ and غُمُورٌ. You say بَحْرٌ غَمْرٌ
An abundant sea: and [in the pl.] بِحَارٌ غِمَارٌ, and غُمُورٌ. And of a thing that has become much, you say, غَمِيرٌ هٰذَا كَثِيرٌ

2 The main of the sea: pl. as above.
def.2 Liberal in disposition: pl. as above: and in like manner, غَمْرُ الخُلُقِ: or this last, and غَمْرُ البَدِيهَةِ, signify abounding in beneficence: pl. as above: (S, K: [see also رِدَآءٌ:]) and غَمْرُ البَدِيهَةِ a man who takes by surprise with large bounty.
2 A horse fleet, or swift, or excellent, in running.
3 A garment ample, or full.

غَمَارٌ signify a crowding, or pressing, of men, and of water: the pl. of
غَمْرَةٌ is غِمَارٌ. You say دَخَلْتُ فِى النَّاسِ, and

, I entered among the crowding, or pressing, of the people, and their multitude: as also فى خَمَرِهِمْ [and خُمَارِهِمْ &c.] And
أَكُونُ فِى النَّاسِ, meaning I shall be among the dense congregation of the people, occurs in a trad.
