مُعَقَدٌ [Tied in many knots]. One says خُيُوطٌ مُعَقَّدَةٌ [Threads, or strings, tied in many knots]: the latter word being with teshdeed to denote muchness, or multiplicity.
2 And [hence] applied to language, as meaning Rendered obscure: or [simply] obscure.
