Full Definition

وَرَدَهُI , Present.T يَرِدُ, Verbal.Noun وُرُودٌ and مَوْرِدٌ and وِرْدٌ, or the last is a simple subst., He came to it, or arrived at it, [and repaired to it,] namely a water &c., whether he entered it or did not enter it; as also وَرَدَ عَلَيْهِ, and تورّدهُ , and : he came to it to drink: he arrived at it , whether he entered it or did not enter it: it is allowed by common consent not necessarily to imply entering. [Hence, وَرَدَتِ الإِبِلُ, the objective complement مَآءً or المَآءَ being understood, The camels came to water.]

3 وَرَدَ عَلَيْنَا, Verbal.Noun وُرُودٌ He came to us.
4 وِرَدَ الكِتَابُ Verbal.Noun [وُرُودٌ and] مَوْرِدٌ The letter came, عَلَىَّ to me: you say, وَرَدَ عَلَىَّ الكَِتَابُ.
5هُوَ المَهَالِكَ He ventures upon, or goes into, places of destruction].
6 استورد الضَّلَالَةَ, and وَرَدَهَا, [He ran into error].
7 وَرَد عَلَيْهِ أَمْرٌ لَمْ يُطِقْهُ [A thing befell him which he was unable to master].
8 وَرَدَ عَلَيْهِ It contravened it; presented itself as an objection to it; opposed it.]
9 [وَرَدَ, said of a word or phrase or the like, It occurred.]
10 وَرَدَتْهُ الحُمَّى, (Present.T تَرِدُ, Msb, Verbal.Noun وُرُودٌ, A) The fever attacked him periodically.
11 وُرِدَ He suffered a periodical attack of fever.
