إِفَّانٌ and أَفَّانٌ and and أَفَفٌ and and أَفَّةٌ and , of the measure تَفْعِلَةٌ, [being originally تَأْفِفَةٌ,] accord. to J, who appears to be right in saying so, and so accord. to Aboo-'Alee, who states, on authority of Aboo-Bekr, that it is thus in some of the copies of the Book of Sb, though in other copies of that book said to be of the measure فَعِلَّةٌ, A time; as in the sayings, كَانَ ذٰلِكَ عَلَي ذٰلِكَ, and إِفَّانِهِ and , and , and , That was at the time of that; and أَتَانِى فِى إِفَّانِ ذٰلِكَ, and عَلَى إِفَّانِ ذٰلِكَ, and أَفَّانِهِ, and , and , and , and , and , preceded by على, and by فى, He came to me at the time of that.
