بَالٍ [act. part. n. of بَلَاهُ; Trying, proving, or testing.
2 And hence,] Knowing, or being acquainted [with a thing]; as in the phrase, جَعَلْتُهُ بَالِيًا بِعُذْرِى I made him to be acquainted with my excuse, and to know the manner thereof.
