جَالِفٌ

Root: جلف

Full Definition

جَالِفٌ [act. part. n. of جَلَفَ].
2 جَالِفَةٌ [or شَجَّةٌ جَالِفَةٌ] A wound of the head that peels off the skin with the flesh: or that peels off the skin but does not penetrate into the interior. And طَعْنَةٌ جَالِفَةٌ A spear-wound, or the like, that does not penetrate into the interior; opposed to جَائِفَةٌ.
3 زَمَانٌ جَائِفٌ i. q. جَارِفٌ [A time, or season, that sweeps away, or destroys, the cattle]. See also جَلِيفٌ.
