جَاشَI
, Present.T يَجِيشُ, Verbal.Noun جَيْشٌ and جَيَشَانٌ and جُيُوشٌ, said of a cooking-pot &c., It boiled, or estuated: or began to do so, not yet boiling or estuating; this latter being said by some to be the correct meaning.
2 It estuated with the waves, so that it was unnavigable.
3 It flowed with much water, its water, or waves, rising high.
4 It poured forth water: and [in like manner] you say of the eye, جَاشَتْ, meaning, it flowed, or overflowed, with tears.
5 He reared, and became excited.
6 جَاشَتْ نَفْسُهُ, or جَاشَتْ إِلَيْهِ نَفْسُهُ, His soul [or stomach] heaved; or became agitated by a tendency to vomit; syn. غَثَتْ; or فَارَتْ; (T in art. ثور; see ثَارَتْ نَفْسُهُ in that art.;) as though what was in his belly rose to his fauces: or his soul [as it were] turned round, [i. e., he became giddy,] with the tendency to vomit: as also
تجيّشت ; which occurs in the former of these senses in a trad.: and جَاشَتْ نَفْسُهُ also signifies his soul [or stomach] heaved, by reason of grief or fright; [as also جَأَشَتْ;] or when this last signification is meant, you say جَشَأَتْ: and his soul purposed flight: or was frightened: as also جَأَشَتْ, in either of these two senses: and جَاشَتْ

his heart quitted its place by reason of fear.
7 جَاشَ صَدْرُهُ His bosom boiled with wrath, or rage. You say also, صَدْرُهُ يَجِيشُ عَلَىَّ بِالغِلِّ [His bosom boils against me with rancour, malevolence, malice, or spite; or with latent rancour, &c.].
8 جَاشَ الهَمُّ فِى الصَّدْرِ Anxiety boiled in the bosom: and in like manner, جَاشَتِ الغُصَّةُ فِى الصَّدْرِ [Choking wrath or rage boiled in the bosom].
9 جَاشَت الحَرْبُ بَيْنَهُمْ War, or the war, [boiled, or raged, or] began to boil [or rage,] between them.
10 In the following words of a poet, cited by IAar, [She arose, showing herself to thee] in her strength and youth, [تَبَدَّى being for تَتَبَدَّى,] جيشان, [the Verbal.Noun,] meaning as rendered above, is with sukoon [to the ى] by poetic license.
