حَامِضٌ

Root: حمض

Full Definition

حَامِضٌ [Acid; sour; sharp or biting to the taste; pungent; having a taste like that of vinegar or like that of sour milk; see حُمُوضةٌ;] applied to milk and other things; and مُحَمِّضٌ signifies the same, applied to a grape.
2 [Hence,] رَجُلٌ حَامِضُ الفُؤَادِ A man whose heart, or mind, is altered and bad, فِى الغَضَبِ in anger. And فُلَانٌ حَامِضُ الرِّئَتَيْنِ Such a one is in a loathing state of mind; syn. مُرُّ النَّفْسِ.

def.2 إِبِلٌ حَامِضَةٌ Camels pasturing upon حَمْض; or eating it; or pastur ing upon حَمْض after pasturing upon خُلَّة: pl. حَوَامِضُ: and إِبِلٌ Camels staying among حَمْض; as also , contr. to rule: and بَعِيرٌ a camel eating حَمْض.
