حُوَارٌ , and sometimes with kesr [ حِوَارٌ ], but this latter is a bad form, A young camel when just born: or until weaned; i. e. from the time of its birth until big and weaned; when it is called فَصِيلٌ: fem. with ة: pl. أَحْوِرَةٌ and حِيرَانٌ and حُورَانٌ. [Its flesh is insipid: see a verse cited as an ex. of the word مَسِيخٌ.]
2 [Hence,] عَقْرَبُ الحِيرَانِ The scorpion of winter; because it injures the حُوَار, i. e. the young camel.
