خالجهُIII , Verbal.Noun مُخَالَجَةٌ, He contended with him, [as though drawing, or pulling, him, ] namely, a man. You say, خالجهُ الشَّىْءَ He contended with him for the thing. And خَالَجَنِى القِرَآءَةَ He vied with me in reciting the words of prayer, uttering aloud what I uttered aloud, so that he took from my tongue what I was reciting, and I did not [or could not] continue to do so. And خالج قَلْبِى أَمْرٌ A thing, or an affair, troubled my heart with contending thoughts. And مَا يُخَالِجُنِى فِى ذٰلِكَ الأَمْرِ شَكٌّ [Doubt does not contend with me respecting that affair], meaning I doubt not respecting that affair.
