Full Definition

رَفَّدُواII , Verbal.Noun تَرْفِيدٌ, They made such a one a lord, or chief; made him great, or magnified him, or honoured him; and set him over their affairs; [lit. made him to give gifts;] as also رَفَّلُوهُ: because a man when he becomes a lord, or chief, gives gifts, and drags his skirt upon the ground (إِذَا سَادَ رَفَدَ وَرَفَلَ). And رُفِّدَ فُلَانٌ Such a one was made a lord, or chief; and was made great, or magnified, or honoured.
