زَبَّI , Present.T يَزِبُّ accord. to the K, but correctly يَزَبُّ, the verb being like فَرِحَ, [so that the sec. pers. is زَبِبْتَ,] and the Verbal.Noun being زَبَبٌ, [He, or it, was, or became, downy: and he had abundant and long hair; was hairy: or had abundance of hair in the ears and eyebrows: or had abundance of hair on the fore arms and the eyebrows and eyes: and he had abundance of hair on the face and under the lower jaw: or in the ears and on the eyes:] the verb of زَبَبٌ expl. below.
2 Hence, زَبَّتِ الشَّمْسُ, Verbal.Noun زَبٌّ [perhaps a mistranscription for زَبَبٌ], The sun was near to setting; because it becomes concealed as the colour of a limb does by the hair upon it; as also , and .
