Full Definition

سمَطَهُI , and ـُ and ـِ Verbal.Noun سَمْطٌ, namely, a kid, and a lamb, He removed its hair, or wool, or cleansed it of the hair, [or wool,] by means of hot water; in order to roast it; or it is generally done for this purpose: or he plucked from it the [hair, or] wool, after putting it into hot water.
2 [And It scalded it: for] you say, of boiling water, يَسْمُطُ الشَّىْءَ [it scalds the thing].

def.2 سَمَطَهُ, Verbal.Noun as above, also signifies He hung it; suspended it; namely, a thing; as also سمّطهُ , Verbal.Noun تَسْمِيطٌ: or the latter, he hung it, or suspended it, upon, or by means of, سُمُوط, meaning thongs, or straps. And سمّط الذِّرْعَ, Verbal.Noun تَسْمِيطٌ, He hung the coat of mail upon the hinder part of his horse.
