[The facing, or outer covering, or] what is uppermost, what is apparent to the eye, not next the body, of a garment; and in like manner, what is uppermost and apparent, not next the ground, of a carpet; as also
ظَاهِرَةٌ : contr. of
بِطَانَةٌ: pl. ظَهَائِرُ.
