عَرِصَI , [Present.T ـَ] Verbal.Noun عَرَصٌ, He was, or became, brisk, lively, or sprightly; as also , said of a man, and of a cat.
2 He leaped, jumped, sprang, or bounded; as also .
3 عَرِصَ القَوْمُ The company of men played, or sported, and advanced and retired, urging, or pushing, [one another] from behind: and he played, or sported, and was very joyful, or glad, and very brisk, lively, or sprightly.
4 عَرِصَ البَرْقُ, Present.T ـَ Verbal.Noun عَرَصٌ and عَرْصٌ, The lightning gleamed, or glistened, much: or was, or became, in a state of commotion, or agitation; quivered; flickered; as also : and in like manner, عَرِصَ السَّيْفُ, Verbal.Noun as above, The sword vibrated, or quivered: and جِلْدُهُ His skin quivered, or quaked; as also ارتعص.
5 Also عَرَصَ, Present.T ـِ said of a camel, or other [animal], He struggled, or quivered, (اِضْطَرَبَ, O, K, TA,) with his hind legs; as also .
6 And عَرَصَتِ السَّمَآءُ, or السَّحَابَةُ, as in some copies of the S, Present.T ـِ Verbal.Noun عَرْصٌ, or عَرَصٌ, The sky, or cloud, lightened continually.
