عَضُوضٌ

Full Definition

عَضُوضٌ A horse that bites; [i. e. that has a habit of biting; or that bites much; as the form of the word indicates;] and a camel; as also عَضَّاضٌ .
2 A bow having its string cleaving, or sticking, to its كَبِد [or handle].
3 A woman narrow in the فَرْج, so that the ذَكَر will not penetrate into it; as also تَعْضُوضَةٌ : the latter is thought by Az to have this signification.
4 A well that is deep, or having its bottom distant, and narrow, from which one draws by means of the سَانِيَة; as though it bit the water-drawer by the distress which it occasions him; and in like manner a water; and waters; as also عَضِيضٌ : or a well distressing to the water-drawer: or a well having much water: pl. عُضُضٌ, or عُضَضٌ, and عِضَاضٌ.
5 Severe; grievous; distressing; afflictive: applied to time, or fortune; and to war.
6 Unjust, or tyrannical, rule, or dominion; as though the subjects thereof were bitten; an intensive epithet.
7 A calamity; a misfortune.
