عَلِيقٌ i. q. قَضِيمٌ, i. e. Barley for a horse or similar beast, [in which sense and also as meaning provender of beans and the like, the former word is now used, properly, or originally,] that is hung upon the beast [in a مِخْلَاة, or nose-bag]: pl. عَلَائِقُ.
