احمىIV : see 1, in five places.

def.2 Also He made the sun, and fire, to be vehemently hot; said of God: and in like manner, a piece of iron; said of a man: [or] he heated an iron nail, and a piece of iron, &c., in the fire: one should not say in this sense; app., in chaste speech; for otherwise one does say, حَمَى الشَّىْءَ فِى النَّارِ, meaning He put the thing into the thing into the fire [and so heated it]. And احمى المِيسَمَ and احمى عَلَيْهِ He kindled fire upon the branding-iron [and so heated it].
2 [Hence,] احماهُ عَلَى القِتَالِ [He excited him to ardour for fight]. (S in art. حرض; &c.)
