Full Definition

دَاعٍ [Praying, or supplicating God:] calling, or summoning: [inviting:] and particularly, [as an epithet in which the quality of a subst. predominates,] one who calls, or summons, or invites, to obey a right or a wrong religion: pl. دُعَاةٌ and دَاعُونَ. [Hence,] دَاعِى ٱللّٰهِ [God's summoner, or inviter; i. e.] the prophet: and also, or simply الدَّاعِى, The مُؤَذِّن [or summoner to prayer]. [Hence also, دَاعِى المَنَايَا The summoner of death, lit. of deaths; like طَارِقُ المَنَايَا]
