مَسْمَعٌ

Full Definition

مَسْمَعٌ A place whence [and where] one hears, or hearkens, or listens. You say, هُوَ مِنِّى بِمَرْأًى وَمَسْمَعٍ He is where I see him and hear his speech; and in like manner, هُوَ مِنِّ مَرْأًى وَمَسْمَعٌ; and مَرْأًى وَمَسْمَعًا, (M and K in art. رأى, q. v.,) and sometimes they said مَرًى. And فُلَانٌ فِى مَنْظَرٍ وَمَسْمَعٍ Such a one is in a state in which he likes to be looked at and listened to. (T, A, TA, in art. نظر.)
