احتمىVIII
He protected, defended, or guarded, himself, [or he became protected, &c.,] from a thing.
2 And He refrained, forbore, or abstained, مِنَ الطَّعَامِ [from food, or the food], or مِمَّا يَضُرُّهُ [from what would injure him]; as also تحمّى . ٱحْتِمَايَا occurs at the end of a verse, preserving the original form, [for ٱحْتِمَآءَ,] accord. to a dial. of certain of the Arabs.
