Full Definition

البُرَاقُ A certain beast which Mohammad rode on the night of the ascension [to heaven]; or which the apostles ride in ascending to heaven; resembling a mule; or less than the mule, but greater than the ass: so called because of the intense whiteness of his hue, and his great brightness; or because of the quickness of his motion; in respect of both of which he is likened to lightning.
