بَاتٌّ

2 Cut off from [the possession of] reason, or intellect, by drunkenness: or drunken: and stupid, or foolish: and أَحْمَقُ بَاتٌّ signifies very stupid or foolish, accord. to Lth; but [Az adds,] what we remember to have heard from those deserving of confidence is تَابٌّ, from التَّبَابُ, meaning الخَسَارُ; like as one says, أَحْمَقُ
