حِدْثٌ and حَدُثٌ and حَدِثٌ and حِدِّيثٌ and مُحَدِّثٌ A man of many stories or narratives, and who relates them well: or رَجُلٌ حَدُثٌ and حَدِثٌ signify a man who relates stories, or narratives, well: and حِدِّيثٌ رَجُلٌ signifies a man of many stories or narratives; but is used by the vulgar to signify a man who relates stories, or narratives, well. And you say رَجُلٌ حِدْثُ مُلُوكٍ A man who is a companion of kings in talk and in their nocturnal conversations: and حِدْثُ نِسَآءٍ one who talks to women; or who talks with women. (Az, TA in art. تبع.) And هُوَ [He is his story-teller].
