سَرَبَI
Present.T
ـُ Verbal.Noun سُرُوبٌ, He went forth: and he went away. You say, سَرَبَ فِى الأَرْضِ, Present.T as above, and so the Verbal.Noun, He went away [into the country, or in the land]. And سَرَبَ فِى حَاجَتِهِ
He went, or went away, or, as some say, during the day, for the accomplishment of his want. And هُوَ يَسْرُبُ النَّهَارَ كُلَّهُ فِى
حَوَائِجِهِ [He goes, or goes away, all the day, accomplishing his wants].
2 سَرَبَ [or rather سَرَبَ فِى الأَرْضِ] also signifies He went away at random into the country, or in the land. A poet says, namely, Keys Ibn-El-Khateem,
3 سَرَبَتِ الإِبِلُ, Present.T and Verbal.Noun as above, The camels went away into the country, or in the land, going forth whithersoever they would: and in like manner سَرَبَ is said of a stallion [camel]': or سَرَبَ, said of a stallion [camel], Present.T as above, and so the Verbal.Noun, signifies he repaired, or betook himself, to the place of pasture: and سَرَبَ المَالُ, Present.T ـُ Verbal.Noun سَرْبٌ, the camels, or cattle, pastured during the day without a pastor.
4 سَرَبَ المَآءُ, Present.T as above, Verbal.Noun سُرُوبٌ; or سَرِبَ, [Present.T ـَ] Verbal.Noun سَرَبٌ; The water ran upon the surface of the ground: or flowed; as also : [or the latter signifies it ran swiftly: ] and in like manner one says of the سَرَاب [or mirage], يَسْرَبُ, Verbal.Noun سَرَبٌ, it runs. And سَرِبَتِ العَيْنُ, Verbal.Noun سَرَبٌ; and سَرَبَتْ, Present.T ـُ Verbal.Noun سُرُوبٌ; The عين [or source, or perhaps
