مِفْرَشٌ
A thing resembling the
شَاذَكُونَة [a kind of thick quilted stuff made in El-Yemen]; i. e. a thing that is put upon the
صُفَّة [or covering next the saddle] to sit upon; as also
مِفْرَشَةٌ : or the latter is smaller than the former, and is put upon the
صُفَّة
of the camel's saddle, or upon the camel's saddle [itself], to sit upon: [pl. مَفَارِشُ.]
2 [Hence,] مَفَارِشُ is applied to signify Women, or wives. One says, فُلَانٌ كَرِيمُ
المَفَارِشِ Such a one is a person who has highborn wives or women; or who takes as his wives high-born women. One says also of a man who has never married, إِنَّهُ لَهَالِكُ
المِفْرَشِ, meaning Verily his life has passed away lost. And هُلْكُ المَفَارِشِ is said to mean Persons who will not die upon their beds, and will not die otherwise than by slaughter.
