Lane's Arabic-English Lexicon

مَمْلُوحٌ

Root: ملح

Full Definition

مَمْلُوحٌ and A fat camel.
2 A camel destined for slaughter that is fat: or having some remains of fatness.

def.2 سَمَكٌ مَمْلُوحٌ, and مَلِيحٌ , and مِلْحٌ , Salted fish; i. q. مُمَلَّحٌ . You should not say مَالِحٌ. As to the saying of 'Odháfir, بَصْرِيَّةٌ تَزَوَّجَتْ بَصْرِيَّا يُطْعِمُهَا والطَّرِيَّا [A woman of El-Basrah who married a man of El-Basrah: he fed her with salted and fresh], it is not an evidence. ISd says, that some have disapproved of this word, as also of مليح, not regarding the above verse as an evidence. You says, that مليح and مملوح are better than مالح.
