Full Definition

اعتادVIII : see 1, near the beginning.

def.2 اعتادهُ He frequented it; or came to it and returned to it; namely, a place. (T in art. ارى.)
2 And He looked at it time after time until he knew it. (TA in art. بلد.)
3 And, as also تعوّدهُ , and ; and so , Verbal.Noun مُعَاوَدَةٌ and عِوَادٌ; and اعادهُ , and استعادهُ ; He became accustomed, or habituated, to it; or he accustomed, or habituated, himself to it; or made it his custom, or habit. It is said in a trad., الخَيْرَ فَإِنَّ الخَيْرَ عَادَةٌ وَالشَّرَّ لَجَاجَةٌ, meaning Accustom yourselves to good; for good becomes a habit, and evil is persevered in. And one says, تعوّد الكَلْبُ الصَّيْدَ The dog became accustomed, or habituated, to the chase.
